Launched in 1951, the No. 89 fragrance takes its name from the historic location of our shop and perfumery on Jermyn Street, number 89. Not only was this shop the home of the Floris family, but it also remains the heart of our perfume house. No. 89 was created in the basement of 89 Jermyn Street, a place affectionately known as “The Mine”. This underground laboratory was the creative centre where all our fragrances originated until the late 1970s. The devotion to the number 89 has been shared by iconic figures such as Cary Grant, Sir Alec Guinness and Ian Fleming, the creator of the legendary James Bond.
